...All a day in the life of The OC.
The front page of the OC Register this morning had the most perplexing articles that I thought I would never see in a million years: An article on Rick Warren and an Article on the OC's very own member of Al Queda: Adam Gadhan. Yes, both were on the same front page. I couldn't even make this stuff up.
Now I could be very blunt and draw parallels between religion, the war on fascism, and how religious indoctrination and The OC represent a microcosm of the new global political scene ("You either with us or against us..."), but I believe The Register did the job for me this Sunday morning. Religion and politics are a dangerous mix, throw in some ammunition and people willing to die for their cause and you get a repeat of the crusades. I sure hope we as a human race have mature well beyond that point?
After seeing this I decided to go enjoy the mix of Americana that is the Orange Old Town Street Fair. Since I decided to go in the middle of the day, on a 100+ degree day, I didn't stay for long. Thanks to the Swedes for a really great beer, I never got the name of it but it sure did hit the spot. Thanks also to the El Modena track team for their Chicken Quesadea on Mexican Street.
I briefly said hi to Ryan Gene Williams over at the Republican Party tent and welcomed him to the blogging world. From there it was over the the busy Democratic Club of Central Orange County Tent where they were handing out fans that said "I'm a fan of Cool Democrats." The Democratic fans out numbered the Republican fans by two to one. That might be a good indication of the election this fall.
